Our Story

The team founded this non-profit to educate children and adults on a variety of issues ranging from mental health and activism to common school subjects like math and science. Our goal in creating this organization is to enhance the quality of life for people in one’s community, city, state, country, and hopefully, the entire world.

Meet Our Team!

Director of Activities & Outreach

Mahiyah Muthu

Mahiyah is the Director of Activities & Outreach of Empower the Minds. Currently, a junior, she attends Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.  Mahiyah has always been interested in science and medicine and hopes to pursue a future in that field. She tutors elementary school students on various science experiments relating to physics, biology, and chemistry at TJ. Additionally, her family and she have hosted numerous fund drives for homeless shelters, children, and underprivileged kids. Mahiyah does Bharatanatyam, a form of Indian classical dance plays tennis, and is a certified Grade 4 level piano player by the Trinity College of London. 

Director of Operations & Communication

Keya Shah

Keya Shah is the Director of Operations & Communication for Empower the Minds. A current junior, she attends Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. She is passionate about combining humanity with advanced technology and STEM to make a lasting difference in the world, no matter how big or small. Keya is fascinated by neurobiology and psychology, specifically in children, and aspires to be a pediatrician in the future. To gain a better understanding of these topics, she has taken AP Biology, Chemistry Honors, and Biology Honors, and is interested in courses such as Psychology, DNA Science, and Neurobiology. In her free time, she loves to do Kathak, a form of Indian classical dance, and draw; she takes professional coaching for both and is close to earning a college diploma in fine arts.

Director of Operations & Communication

Soha Kenjale

Soha Kenjale is a ninth grader and the Director of Operations for the non-profit organization, Empower the Minds, where the collaborative community works hard in helping others and educating people of all ages about issues directly affecting the lives of individuals today. She has had a passion for helping people throughout her life and has always tried to be a voice to spread peace, equality, and positivity in the world she has gotten the opportunity to grow. Soha has spoken about the importance of these values with the United Nations, as well as in her local community. She feels strongly about advocating for many things, including the LGBTQIA+ community, feminism, race, and POC. She enjoys reading, meditation, running, cooking, music, and writing poetry.

Director of activities & outreach

Eesha Pamnani

Eesha Pamnani is the Director of Activities & Outreach of Empower the Minds. She is a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. She is passionate about helping animals and plans to volunteer at the animal shelter. Helping the community is important to her, and she volunteers at food banks to help distribute food to families in need. Eesha knits hats for newborns in Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. She also volunteers as a coach and refs for Chantilly Youth Association volleyball. She is a Director of Activities for TJ Minds Matter, a chapter of the global non-profit organization Our Minds Matter, which seeks to promote mental wellness and reduce stigmas relating to mental health. She loves science and tutors her peers in various subjects such as science, English, and math. In her free time, she loves to sing, dance, and play the flute.

DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 

Megana Kumar

Megana is the computer specialist of Empower The Minds. She’s a junior and goes to Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology. She has an interest in STEM and wants to use volunteering to educate younger audiences about the sciences in order to raise a giant army of loyal minions. She has an avid interest in molecular biology and its intersection with data science, and is taking AP Biology in school. In her free time, she reads comics, draws superheroes because she can’t be one (she doesn’t have the courage to wear underwear outside of her pants), plays the piano and does Indian classical music.
